💡 Cite the source of every platform limit; until confirmed on the official upload page, ship both variants.

Problem

All stickers were compressed to <=100 KB based on a third-party summary of the WeChat sticker spec; other sources say 500 KB. Heavy compression hurt quality and nobody had checked the official upload page.

Confirm it is this problem

The limit you target has no official citation.

Not this when / boundary

You read the limit in the official upload UI today.

Root cause

Platform limits change and get copied into unofficial repos/blogs without dates; the number was never traced to an official source.

Fix

  1. Record source URL + date next to each limit.
  2. Produce two outputs: aggressive (<=~97 KB) and light (<=500 KB, gifsicle -O3, keep original if it grows).
  3. Pick which to submit from the limit shown in the platform's upload backend.

How to verify

Files pass upload validation.

What did not work

Choosing the stricter number 'to be safe' without a source - costs quality.

Verified scope

Becomes obsolete when

WeChat changes its official limits.
